Woodward Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valves
Glo-Tech valve helps reduce emissions and increase engine performance
Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is an effective method to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions—and Woodward’s package of integrated products makes EGR not only possible but highly efficient.
The Glo-Tech™ Bypass Valve (GBV) forms the core of Woodward’s EGR solution which, along with the valve, includes an actuator, linkage, support bracket, and proven actuation technology. The GBV is a high-temperature butterfly valve that regulates compressor boost pressure on turbocharged spark-ignited engines. Constructed of stainless steel and other high-temperature alloys, the Glo-Tech valve can handle continuous gas temperatures of up to 750 °C (1382 °F). Its high temperature rating enables the valve to be located either between the compressor outlet and the aftercooler or downstream of the aftercooler.
The valve’s bore size is 60mm. No service or maintenance is required.
The GBV is designed to be positioned by a ProAct™ Digital Plus rotary actuator through an anti-backlash coupling capable of handling considerable misalignment. It can also be coupled with a Woodward F-Series modular actuator.
Note that the GBV’s function is to regulate system pressure and reduce NOx emissions. It is not designed to be used as a fuel control device.
