String Boxes
The Woodward IDS SOLO String Boxes are collecting the string cables for further distribution to the Woodward IDS SOLO Inverters. They are very robust and easy to connect. Every string input has its own fuse and an outside-of-the-box visible LED to indicate if and which fuse was blown.
| SOLO SSB (Smart String Box) with integrated string current measurement is ready. Each PV string current is measured and sent by serial interface to the inverter. If the string does not produce enough energy the inverter generates a warning. This allows fast repair of the damaged PV panels. SSB also indicates the address of the wrong string. SSB uses fibre optic interface for robust and reliable communication with 20 years life time. All SSB's have an integrated DC switch for remote control.

Two kind of String Boxes are available: Those with simple optical signaling (ISB) and those with single string current metering and transmission of the measured values, as well as optical signaling at the box (SSB). Both have built in DC contactors controlled from the inverter. This allows for remote-controlled disconnection of the PV cable between String Box and inverter for personnel safety (fire brigade) in case of a fire in the building.
