With a system approach to design and development, along with highly engineered
process control, Woodward customers realize critical bottom line results.
- Reduced supplier base
- Lower development costs
- Reduced system risks
- Simplified logistics
- Reduced inventory
- Increased performance and reliability
- A system approach to design and development
Design teams at Woodward create component and system models prior to prototype
manufacturing and analyze performance. Open and closed loop system test rigs are then
utilized to conduct extensive environmental and endurance testing to confirm model
assumptions and results. All of this is done prior to engine installation, which
reduces development time and costs, while improving performance and reliability.
Sophisticated Engineering and Support Capabilities
To ensure precision and reliability in every product we produce, the
engineers at Woodward use the most powerful technology development and
analysis tools available.
- Static and dynamic performance modeling (MatCAD, SimuLink, TK Solver, EES and MATLAB)
- Finite element analysis, including structural, electromagnetic, thermal, modal and
harmonic response (COSMOS, I-DEAS and ANSYS)
- 2- and 3-D design and modeling (Cadra, SolidDesigner, Unigraphics, and Solidworks)
- Computational fluid dynamic model (Fluent and CFX)
- Vibration, ambient temperature, fuel temperature and contaminated fuel test capabilities
- Complete fuel pump test capabilities, including NPSP and V/L
- Radial and zone fuel spray patternization
- Combustor ignition test rig with hot and cold fuel capabilities
- Phase doppler particle analyzer, laser doppler velocimeter and Malvern spray analyzer
- Water/air flow visualization
- Hydraulic system modeling (HYSAN)
