Mixers & Throttles for Gas Engines

Mixers
Mixer Mixers are available for a wide variety of naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines. Woodward mixers provide high homogeneity at very low resistance. All mixers feature robust, simple construction with no moving parts, and can be easily combined with Woodward air/fuel ratio control systems.

D-Series Mixers & Throttle Valves
D100 Throttle Valve The D100 throttle valve is designed to mount directly to the D100 gas mixer. The combination of throttle valve and gas mixer ensures optimal mixing and excellent control of engines running on gaseous fuels. The D100 throttle valve is available in a wide variety of configurations covering a wide range of applications.

F-Series ITB Integrated Actuator and Throttle Body
F-Series ITB The F Series Integrated Throttle Bodies (ITB) are butterfly valves electrically actuated by an F-Series actuator to control flow output. Flow is a function of inlet and outlet pressure, throttle size, and throttle position. Throttle position is proportional to the position demand. The actuator drives the 0-70 degree output shaft to the demanded position based on an internal shaft position sensor. The F-Series ITB is designed to throttle air or air/fuel mixtures for gaseous engines in industrial and on-highway service. This system is designed for direct replacement of traditional throttle valves, and requires no linkage between valve and actuator. The ITB contains a return spring to fully comply with US DOT 571.124 specifications. The three sizes (48, 60, 68 mm) are designed to cover a wide range of engines. Learn more from F-Series ITB product spec 03344 and from F-Series Actuator product spec 03345.

Flo-TechTM ITB Integrated Throttle Body/Actuator
Flo-Tech ITB The Flo-TechTM ITB integrated throttle body and actuator is designed for direct replacement of manual throttle bodies, and is designed with flow shaping to assist in engine idle stability. The throttle body will provide equivalent maximum flow rates of standard butterfly throttle bodies of the same diameter. The system contains a return spring to fully comply with DOT 571.124 specifications. Determination of the proper size requires a knowledge of the absolute pressure drops across the valve, the expected temperature of the gaseous media flowing, and the density of the gas. Cv (volume coefficients) are provided to determine the flow vs. angle. For initial testing, a valve body diameter similar to the one typically used on the application can be used. The Flo-Tech integrated actuator/throttle body requires no actuator or linkage. Learn more from Flo-Tech ITB product spec 04140.

ProActTM ITB Integrated Throttle Body
ProAct ITB Integrated Throttle Body The ProActTM ITB integrated throttle body includes 107 mm, 120 mm, and 135 mm bore sizes, and is designed for use with engines in the 1-2 MW range. These large ITB units are made to couple directly to Woodward's ProAct actuators (an electromagnetic, 75-degree device), and therefore alleviate the problems associated with linkages on gas engines, such as non-linearity and wear. This direct combination of throttle and actuator results in excellent low-load stability and transient characteristics, and requires no hydraulics, pneumatics, or governor gear train. Learn more from ProAct ITB product spec 03305.

L-Series ITB Integrated Throttle Body
L-Series ITB Integrated Throttle Body The L-Series ITB is a member of Woodward's Integrated Throttle Body family. Several throttle body size configurations (between 25 and 50 mm) are integrated with speed, position, or process control options for use on gaseous fueled industrial engines between 5 and 100 kW (7 and 134 hp). Applications include power generation, refrigeration units, pumps, irrigation, mobile industrial, and gas trim valves. The L-Series ITB integrated throttle body and speed, position, or process control provides a building block approach to total engine management. This modular design consists of a die-cast aluminum throttle body plus a fully programmable integrated digital control and bi-directional actuator. Learn more from L-Series ITB product spec 03328.

Power Flow Integrated Valve Actuator
Power Flow Integrated Valve Actuator The Woodward Power Flow is an integrated valve actuator designed for throttling the intake of internal combustion engines. The system is designed to couple to standard market-available fuel mixer series and to standard SAE flanged intake manifolds. Standard models include the PF 31, PF 38, PF 42, PF 50, and PF 60, covering an air/fuel flow range of 125 to 475 ft³/min (3.5 to 13.4 m³/min). This integrated throttle body is adaptable to a fuel injected engine for air control. Learn more from Power Flow product spec 36505.
