Gas Engine Control Systems

PG-08 Control System for Power Generation & Stationary Engines

PG-08 Control System

The PG-08 control system controls engines in generator sets, irrigation and oil well pumps, and other stationary industrial equipment. It controls spark-ignited engines fueled by LPG (vapor or liquid), natural gas, or gasoline. Suitable for engines ranging in size from 1.6 L to 8.1 L (25 to 220 HP [18.64 to164 kW]).

The closed-loop control system helps OEMs and packagers comply with New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) proposed by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). These standards are effective in 2008 for stationary spark-ignited engines. PG-08 also helps meet requirements of the National Emission Standard for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP).

Consult Woodward to discuss how the PG-08 system can be applied and calibrated for your production engines.

See PG-08 product spec 36576 for more details.

MI-04 Control System for Alternative-fueled Off-highway Vehicles

MI-04 Control System

The MI-04 control system controls propane engines in forklifts and other alternative-fueled off-highway vehicles. The highly accurate closed-loop control system helps OEMs meet legislated TIER-2 emission levels, while maintaining excellent drivability and fuel economy. Woodward has a whole family of ECUs (engine control units) and continues to develop new applications as the market requirements change.

See MI-04 product spec 03313 for more details.

MI-07 Control System for Alternative-fueled Off-highway Vehicles

MI-07 Control System

The MI-07 control system is an advanced engine management system for propane and CNG engines in fork lifts and other on- or off-highway vehicles. The MI-07 is emissions certified on 8 engines to the 2007 standards for Large Spark Ignited (LSI) engines as established by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The emission results are demonstrated to meet the 2010 emission standards that are proposed by CARB.

The MI-07 system provides closed-loop control of stoichiometric air-fuel ratio for accurate application with three-way catalysts. Full authority control of an electronic throttle provides a range of options for speed governing. With these capabilities, combined with control of ignition timing and dwell, the MI-07 offers a system with 5000 hour or 5-year emissions compliance. The components and ECU are designed for on-engine and under-hood mounting. The system offers capability for both single and dual fuel on engines with up to 8 cylinders. The MI-07 has been adapted to the 2008 US EPA emission regulations for stationary applications in a system called PG-08.

OH1 Control System for Heavy-duty, Lean-burn, Natural Gas Engines

OH1.2 Lean-burn Control System

OH1-equipped school busThe OH1 control system is designed to control heavy-duty, lean-burn natural gas engines in urban buses and trucks and other alternative-fueled on-highway vehicles. The highly accurate closed-loop control system helps OEMs meet legislated emission levels, while maintaining diesel-like drivability and excellent fuel economy.

See OH1 product spec 03224 for more details.

EGS Control System for Industrial Spark-Ignited Engines

EGS Control System

Woodward's fully integrated EGS engine control system controls industrial gas engines used in power generation, pumping, and other stationary applications ranging from 300 kW to 2000 kW (400-2700 hp). The highly accurate, closed-loop control system helps customers meet regulated emission levels, while maintaining engine performance over a very large range of fuel qualities.

The EGS system is the latest in the Woodward line of engine control systems designed to meet the increasing needs of our customers. The Woodward EGS system has full authority over spark, fuel, and air. Additionally, diagnostics such as detonation and misfire as well as other health monitoring are integrated into the system. This fully integrated approach permits precise governing and air/fuel ratio controls while remaining flexible enough large variations in fuel quality.

EGS System Configuration

See EGS product spec 03336 for more details.

LC-50LC-50

The LC-50 is designed for use on gaseous fueled industrial engines between 5 and 100 kW (7 and 134 hp). The throttle and venturi sizes are between 24 and 50 mm. Applications include power generation, refrigeration units, pumps, irrigation, and mobile industrial. The LC-50 provides a building block approach to total engine management. This modular design consists of a die-cast aluminum throttle body, mixer, plus a fully programmable integrated digital speed control and bi-directional actuator.
